How to Unarchive a Story on Instagram

Instagram Story archive is useful until you need to find one specific Story from seven months ago and suddenly feel like an archaeologist. If you are checking how public Stories appear outside the app, view Instagram Stories without logging in can be handy, but archived Stories must be managed inside your own Instagram account.

Can you truly unarchive a Story?

Not exactly. Instagram Stories disappear from your public Story after 24 hours, then move to Archive if archive is enabled. You cannot put an old Story back into the same 24-hour slot as if time politely reversed itself. What you can do is add it to a Highlight or share it again as a new Story.

How to find your archived Stories
